During circle time we played a frog/ number game and practiced lower case writing (letters: m,n and o). We also read one story (each day) from our Frog and Toad book.

**pics from THIS week posted below**
We focused our activities on Gardening - and started the week off making flower books and writing words relating to gardening (practicing our letter writing). We also made flower posters and attached our song of the week (Plant a Seed) to the posters. The children can take their posters home next week. On Wednesday and Thursday we did a little gardening by planting cucumber seeds in small biodegradable planter pots that the children decorated. Since Thursday was park day...we also went to the BIG park! Friday before we headed outside for bike day...we made vegetable graphs - and went over the graph.
We talked about which row had the MOST vegetables and which row had the LEAST amount of vegetables!!
Our Song of the Week:
(sung to the tune of London Bridges)
Plant a Seed and Water it, Water it, Water it. Plant a Seed and Water it. Then we'll watch it GROW.
Make sure that it's in the Sun, in the Sun, in the Sun. Make sure that it's in the Sun. Then we'll watch it GROW!!

This week was SUPER Hero week. We did a lot of fun activities with this theme. We used Spiderman as our focus with lesson plans and activities. We started the week off by making red and black Spiderman webs with paper plates and yarn. Our other activities included spider puzzles - cutting, coloring and gluing the triangle pieces together which formed a hexagon spider web). We also made Spiderman puppets using red paint and brown lunch bags. Our math activities included rolling dice and adding up the dots – then they had to color in the number on the Spiderman head that matched the number of dots. We also did “Super Kids” counting and coloring sheet…The children had to count the number of super kids in the pictures and color the correct number below each pic. During circle time we sang the “Super Hero Song” (see video below) and we played Pin the Spider on the Web game…!! It was a fun week for ALL!!
Weekly Prayer: “Come Lord Jesus be our guest, Let these gifts to us be blessed ~ Amen”
Afternoon Snacks: Monday: Cheese and Crackers with Celery Sticks. Tuesday: Nutri-grain Bars. Wednesday: Go-gurts and Wheat Thins. Thursday: Blue Berries and Animal Crackers. Friday: Rice Krispie Treats.

We had a fun week making our Beach Ball posters – We started out by making a beach, using glue and real sand. Then we painted 5 paper beach balls (all different sizes). After the beach balls dried, the children cut them out and glued onto their posters (according to size) smallest to biggest. We are hanging their posters up in the classroom, but they will be going home at the end of next week.
During Beach week we used a beach ball for many of our activities (inside and out). For circle time we played Hot Beach Ball (a.k.a. Hot Potato) – the children tossed the beach ball around the circle while the music played, but didn't want to be the one with the beach ball when the music stopped…which meant they were out…This game was a big hit, so we played it several times (per request) lol!! We also played Beach Ball tag outside! But our Beach week didn't end without our "own" beach. We brought the beach to CTL using large tins filled with sand and water **see pics from Tuesday, posted below.

LAST Week (6-16th thru 6-20th) ~ What a great week, working with Mrs. Schroeder and the children during VBS (9 a.m. till 11:30). Our day's consisted of singing bible songs, making bible themed crafts, acting out bible story plays with Pastor Heath and we also did several fun indoor and outdoor activities with Mr. Boris. I took separate pictures of the children during VBS - which are not included in the photo gallery below. Our afternoon CC was just as busy. Theme of the week was "Baby Animals" - so our books and projects, this week, were all about "young animals" **see pics below. The children also learned about the different names we call baby animals - puppy, kitten, cub, calf, fawn, piglets and chicks. We also worked on our letter sounds...and lower case letter recognition. Some of the children did our worksheet activities (matching upper and lower case letters) and letter sound - picture matching. If you didn't see these sheets in your child's cubby this week, that means he or she didn't have a chance to complete this activity and should be coming home sometime next week.
Prayer & Snacks: This weeks prayer ~ Army Prayer. Snacks ~ Monday: Peaches and Animal Crackers. Tuesday: Grapes (or Raisins) and Gold Fish Crackers. Wednesday: Apple Sauce and Fruit Snacks. Thursday: Applesauce and Cheese Crackers.
Large Motor Activities: (after VBS) ~ We were able to get outside every day this week, during the afternoon...(even with all the rain we had). Monday we played on our school playground. Tuesday we filled up the water table (on the back patio area). Wednesday we played hop scotch. Thursday was Park Day, so we spent a lot of time at the big park. And Friday we played soccer in the school yard.

Our Theme was Bugs (and slugs)!! We focused on ANTS!!
Star of the Week: Lexi!!
The children did a few art projects and math activities using raisins as ants. Our first activity was making ants on a log - using paper towel rolls, paint, grass and raisins. We also painted two leaves and glued raising (ants) onto each leaf...The children counted how many ants were on each leaf and then added them all together (3 ants on one leaf, 4 ants on the other leaf, 7 ants all together ** 3 + 4 = 7). We also learned an ant hill poem and made a poster from the poem. Thursday we learned the 3 body parts of an ANT (Head, Thorax and Abdomen) and labeled the parts using a large ant picture.
Circle Time: We did a few math activities during circle time this week, using ants on a leaf. The children took turns coming up to the large erase board - counting how many ants were on the large leaf drawing - then they picked the correct number card and showed their friends. We also worked on writing the lower case i on the erase board and talked about the sound of the letter i (ants go "in" the ground). We also sang the song "Ants go Marching" and practiced our Ant Hill poem!!
Books of the Week: Thinking about Ants and The Ants go Marching Song Book.
Large Motor Activities: We played outside most of the week - On Monday we played follow the leader on the maze. Tuesday we played at the school park, Wednesday we stayed in and played - ant-ant-bee (aka duck-duck-goose). Thursday we were at the big park and Friday was bike day :)

LAST Week (June 2nd thru June 6th) ~ Star of the Week: Natalie Brockman!! THEME: Boats and Things That Float
We reviewed our capital letters this week (practiced writing A thru Z). We also did a letter/picture matching worksheet - The kids cut out pictures of objects and glued the picture below the letter that the object started with (e.g. Car picture went under the Cc column). Since our theme, this week, was Boats and Things that Float, the children did number by color sail boat pictures and made boat posters - using paper plates, brown paint and broken sticks (as the wood). We also did a couple sink & float (group) activitites.
Circle Time: During circle time this week - we practiced writing the lower and upper case Hh on our large erase board, played our letter picture card game - (the children are given a note card, with picture on it, and they tell the group what it is and what letter it starts with. Then they try to find that letter, from our letter bowls, and place on the card). On Wednesday we had a small group - so we worked on color sorting our construction paper. The children did a great job with sorting and working together!! On Monday, Natalie Brockman - our Star of the Week, presented her picture poster board...and did a GREAT job!! Thank You Natalie. This week (on Tuesday) our caterpillar friend, who made a cocoon in mid May became a moth - and we let him go in the CTL nature area - see pics under Tuesdays photo gallery (posted below).
Books of the Week: With our busy week - we were only able to fit in two books - Huggly Gets Dressed and The Hippo Hop.
Large Motor Activities: Since we had such wonderful weather (again) this week, we spent a lot of time outside (hop-scotch, tag, going to the park, bike riding and playground area).
Prayer and Snacks for this Week: Prayer: Johnny Appleseed. Snacks~ Monday: Apple Slices and Graham Crackers Tuesday: Apples and Veggie Straws Wednesday: Apples and Gold Fish Crackers Thursday: We wished our friend, Jacob, a Happy Birthday and we had Grapes with Nutri-grain Bars Friday: Apple Sauce and Animal Crackers.

Last Week (May 26th thru May 30th) ~ We focused on the lower case g and we also did some fun projects relating to our Theme "Sunflowers". Our projects included, painting a garden of sunflowers (g for garden), Sunflower coloring and number activity (counting seeds in each flower and writing the number). And we also made a giant (g for giant) Sunflower using torn tissue and paint.
Circle Time: During circle time this week, we practiced and learned a Sunflower rhyme, and we also worked on writing the lower case g on the large and small erase boards. On Wednesday we took circle time outside and played a fun "ping pong" basketball game....the kids take turns trying to bounce the ping pong balls into the wire basket (and then count how many bounces it took, to get the balls in the basket).
Books of the Week: Goldie Goes Swish, Vegetable Friends, and our Sunflower Poem
Large Motor Activities: Most of our Large Motor activities were outdoors - playing on the equipment, going to the park, playing hop-scotch and we practiced soccer (kicking and passing the ball with our feet). Friday is bike day, so we will be outside riding bikes!!
Prayer and Snacks for this Week: Prayer: God We Thank You For Our Food (to the tune of Mary Had a Little Lamb). Snacks ~ Tuesday: Peaches and Graham Crackers Wednesday: Carrots and Animal Crackers Thursday: Mandarin Oranges and Raisins
Friday: Strawberries and pretzels
